We have really been into those circle flowers, and I wanted to do something different. So, I went to Joann's and found some fabric that had flowers. I cut out the ones I wanted, used some 'Steam a Seam 2'...(wonderful stuff, but expensive) to adhere the fabric to the shirt. I used coordinating fabrics and a bit of netting and a couple of buttons. I then hand stitched around every flower. You can use your machine, but I wasn't feeling comfortable about it since I have lead foot! Anyways, my mom loved it and I am glad it is done!!<br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjffO7f2cc2aGPtesp-LtAO_1kMdf6pxV1x5AEh-jmFifO0JbPl_pgwVmk6OntQuDfeKbcHjt00ax44ovUId1eTuQZUNurmiyrZGiA6GkJ1t3JpbXssi56e_szBWepU1-MPwjK64oLKxaxh/s1600/mom+005.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 150px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 200px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5477998245329006050" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjffO7f2cc2aGPtesp-LtAO_1kMdf6pxV1x5AEh-jmFifO0JbPl_pgwVmk6OntQuDfeKbcHjt00ax44ovUId1eTuQZUNurmiyrZGiA6GkJ1t3JpbXssi56e_szBWepU1-MPwjK64oLKxaxh/s200/mom+005.JPG" /></a> FINAL VIEW OF SHIRT<br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrZAx-H1vuOXNO1OAmsP3XoYdvnda_u1ez8DJUhSSD9wOG43EcyKSz-7kFcIT3M9_FoDC5vfC75gWPpSS4jIewnlFqhzWaGOULglzpZTrAi-SjexnimVEaSapQ-_rxMOMhbKmiPGCbdmM-/s1600/mom+007.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5477998112449659682" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrZAx-H1vuOXNO1OAmsP3XoYdvnda_u1ez8DJUhSSD9wOG43EcyKSz-7kFcIT3M9_FoDC5vfC75gWPpSS4jIewnlFqhzWaGOULglzpZTrAi-SjexnimVEaSapQ-_rxMOMhbKmiPGCbdmM-/s200/mom+007.JPG" /></a> Corner of shirt<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL_YwZzn2WMFnTvKNYAY_U5bFQ9SthcTMtJNCotKWTIITfbejkWY8KGXbY_uXxQi7sl7zGCvPd38H0SdfjtRoLZXg6ekjqbu9VvBE-llQ2Dvmb9WRsA_y_vDV1b7ynX77ZoB7S-OhVGbq8/s1600/mom+008.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5477997953242348002" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL_YwZzn2WMFnTvKNYAY_U5bFQ9SthcTMtJNCotKWTIITfbejkWY8KGXbY_uXxQi7sl7zGCvPd38H0SdfjtRoLZXg6ekjqbu9VvBE-llQ2Dvmb9WRsA_y_vDV1b7ynX77ZoB7S-OhVGbq8/s200/mom+008.JPG" /></a> Top corner of shirt</div><div></div><div>I told my mom if she didn't like it to just wear it around me once since it took 5 hours to hand sew. What???<div align="center">When we moved into our house on base in January I was quite surprised that it had NO PANTRY!! And hardly any cupboard space so I couldn't really spare one of them. It was probably here in blogland somewhere. So if I completely ripped off your idea, I'm so sorry. Please let me know so I can give you your deserved credit.<br /><br />Anyways, you dip fortunate cookies in chocolate (and sprinkles, if desired) and put in a cute take-out box. It was so cute that I knew I had to do this for my daughters preschool teachers. We wrote them a fun little note about being "fortunate" to have them as teachers this year and I think they turned out pretty cute. It was a fun way to let my daughter be involved in giving a gift to the teachers she loves so much! (especially you, Aunt Kristen!)<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZHnXiImVXogB_IXXlH9evjPMRcoId3WglkY7b_e-4JJjPbtorO4BDO4CKO6GBhxKbEOU_Q2b3HQAeGVKmjuq-u1KbibjyHxKUVrIHNv3ND75L9ClRI7CEJQs2tNsPJnnYk9ND6i_1Y0HI/s1600/2010+May+046.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5476072970937015266" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZHnXiImVXogB_IXXlH9evjPMRcoId3WglkY7b_e-4JJjPbtorO4BDO4CKO6GBhxKbEOU_Q2b3HQAeGVKmjuq-u1KbibjyHxKUVrIHNv3ND75L9ClRI7CEJQs2tNsPJnnYk9ND6i_1Y0HI/s400/2010+May+046.JPG" /></a> Here are the fortune cookies I used. I thought it would be fun to dress her up as a cowgirl. I am too cheap to go out and buy a jean skirt so I thought I'd make one myself. I looked online and found a place for instructions at <a href="http://www.notmartha.org/tomake/jeanskirt">http://www.notmartha.org/tomake/jeanskirt</a>. I'd heard about a no-sew skirt and used my stitch witchery instead of sewing. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuOEqvS6oBEAmWPdW2ABIrxG5ne2-6Nu-WDWahL-m1v_IU1zbee5YtM_GxsrIourm353ajhSIGMa1fSp80fE8E659BYwSKAwfBY3K1K1FNjBHdo5lrboI7eue8HkAjIvLeAMXk5zob6HYc/s1600/May+24th+2010+002.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5474875123465245010" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuOEqvS6oBEAmWPdW2ABIrxG5ne2-6Nu-WDWahL-m1v_IU1zbee5YtM_GxsrIourm353ajhSIGMa1fSp80fE8E659BYwSKAwfBY3K1K1FNjBHdo5lrboI7eue8HkAjIvLeAMXk5zob6HYc/s400/May+24th+2010+002.JPG" /></a> Here are my daughters jeans<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtqsRGfi7Y9JwLi2-kyzzd9NSzBstTTeGP9x9KTN2iVWu-w8cV0igjoDlCXEYqQYNv0_rDLRWuJTePaz6Y-kFqvZvqZIB9N4o6Yc06REZK3L21rHImA_eF_0w69fjvQacrQVF_Pqr2Axiw/s1600/May+24th+2010+003.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5474875038271856322" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtqsRGfi7Y9JwLi2-kyzzd9NSzBstTTeGP9x9KTN2iVWu-w8cV0igjoDlCXEYqQYNv0_rDLRWuJTePaz6Y-kFqvZvqZIB9N4o6Yc06REZK3L21rHImA_eF_0w69fjvQacrQVF_Pqr2Axiw/s400/May+24th+2010+003.JPG" /></a> Used the seam ripper to rip the inside seams.<br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC-_ixXE0GIy0OV83ceQnc_jRAmZsBTzVa4LIqCJYAwY84ejWsPdHNQXqTbX8B4yOwhCo_zpAUztVGFWm16txnbgVr6PoPLAI0pRrOSY2ma8wH4kH247eVpaqN93pKe7dNLNBJRncuZFf7/s1600/May+24th+2010+019.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5474874959048268914" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC-_ixXE0GIy0OV83ceQnc_jRAmZsBTzVa4LIqCJYAwY84ejWsPdHNQXqTbX8B4yOwhCo_zpAUztVGFWm16txnbgVr6PoPLAI0pRrOSY2ma8wH4kH247eVpaqN93pKe7dNLNBJRncuZFf7/s400/May+24th+2010+019.JPG" /></a> Cut the jeans, added a piece in the middle and ironed together. It had "split" open...pardon the pun;) I had it hanging on a sticky hook and the hook just fell of the door...not so sticky I guess. Lesson learned for sure! I used a 8x10 canvas and then a piece of wood also. I have to say that the canvas is alot cheaper (I can make 2 for the price of 1), but you need to be exact with your cutting skills on the canvas. The wood is a little forgiving. If you are looking for a fun craft to do, make this for your kids teachers (and principal). After all, they are their home away from home! <a href="http://1talentedfamily.blogspot.com/search/label/gifts">http://1talentedfamily.blogspot.com/search/label/gifts</a> Scroll down and you will see how Nicole made this adorable gift!</div><div></div><div><span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:180%;">Kristen</span></div>Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14217581854751383970noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6906478209795175335.post-36092983044789669252010-05-16T06:28:00.001-07:002010-05-16T15:41:32.493-07:00Lamp Shade Makeover<div align="center">Unfortunately there are times when a can of spray paint just won't do the job. It was just easier. Cut away excess fabric so that the fabric lines up with the bottom of the shade without any overlay. Then just use your glue gun and glue around the edge. Smooth and pull the fabric as you go to ensure a smooth surface. Repeat for the top.<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW3uEXc9BM_0Y70X1uTXLWU6WYSZyaAeGCva636s_ViorUrhdL6l2R8oG7rFZYOdVRLWbSQurFFNNXdnid_09E10dWdow-Uv3LMDQBIGYPoBl17cg2UAYXQkeNMwZqQ5zC3H7i284gF7Ws/s1600/100_2597.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5471859986349391922" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW3uEXc9BM_0Y70X1uTXLWU6WYSZyaAeGCva636s_ViorUrhdL6l2R8oG7rFZYOdVRLWbSQurFFNNXdnid_09E10dWdow-Uv3LMDQBIGYPoBl17cg2UAYXQkeNMwZqQ5zC3H7i284gF7Ws/s400/100_2597.JPG" /></a> Then make a bias tape to finish it off.<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3o4ITLDUlyII_iNJfNYsXuWEavHjHVzeZXouNdu2Bh7mdM0f4mfAHrKg2FlvF0CY2_kkQ_voY-zTObpYWjSGQ89XD2YV5zTusgDLMRnwyzPOGpTLR34yjCSFtfiUkMH5ElGHAPjjKR1Mx/s1600/100_2595.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5471859767371749394" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3o4ITLDUlyII_iNJfNYsXuWEavHjHVzeZXouNdu2Bh7mdM0f4mfAHrKg2FlvF0CY2_kkQ_voY-zTObpYWjSGQ89XD2YV5zTusgDLMRnwyzPOGpTLR34yjCSFtfiUkMH5ElGHAPjjKR1Mx/s400/100_2595.JPG" /></a> Glue it in place. I was so excited to make them. Got all my supplies, cut out the material and got to sewing. Two hours later (this is on ONE slipper) I am examining my finished product...and I realize that there is no way on earth that it will fit an adult foot. Maybe Cinderella, but not anyone else I know. This is a fantastic lotion. My mother-in-law gave me this recipe and it is something that I make all the time. My skin LOVES it! You can make it and put in a pretty jar with some ribbon and a cute tag.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIawrp_96IKvEXQBJ0UvPPwl8QgiY_iLJIHL6fN-DnaPOlRVPwf5pTNAPfbxv7jLomoa4sLlqpwhmpglZlu_nBJEi8GHbf4_PpIURodAQ100C4J9yRUi8rn0UkLr401lMjjCe6JCT_8YBs/s1600/party+015.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5464949854579756162" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIawrp_96IKvEXQBJ0UvPPwl8QgiY_iLJIHL6fN-DnaPOlRVPwf5pTNAPfbxv7jLomoa4sLlqpwhmpglZlu_nBJEi8GHbf4_PpIURodAQ100C4J9yRUi8rn0UkLr401lMjjCe6JCT_8YBs/s200/party+015.JPG" /></a> The ingredients are: a large 27 ounce bottle of Baby Lotion (I use Wal-Mart brand, it is cheaper, smells sooooo yummy and is just as good). One 2.5 oz tube of Vaseline (again, I used Wal-Mart) and 2 bottles of the Vitamin E Cream (Fruit of the Earth brand). The Vitamin E cream is $3.67 for 2 bottles and that is how it is sold.<br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8E3txUnAbyVzShpxlVeXz0wn528Eh_1swb_i5-toaV_DvwbGm1YLk7uy-2EIBeunp6zzRrdFLSHLFBa6xmSlkdI6Ys67G3h8ueNkmz8kUfFwUK7OAeQjpI_0RGFho6CqAhlw1PQn1pXee/s1600/party+001.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5464949740217332546" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8E3txUnAbyVzShpxlVeXz0wn528Eh_1swb_i5-toaV_DvwbGm1YLk7uy-2EIBeunp6zzRrdFLSHLFBa6xmSlkdI6Ys67G3h8ueNkmz8kUfFwUK7OAeQjpI_0RGFho6CqAhlw1PQn1pXee/s200/party+001.JPG" /></a> Add all the ingredients into a large bowl. Here is what you will need for this project....a Styrofoam 10 inch wreath, paint of your color, 1 1/2 yards of your main color netting, and 1 yard accent color netting. My daughters room is white, pink and brown, so we chose brown and pink. Ribbon to hang. This cost me less than $5.00...gotta love it!<br /><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj5XIQtWxfQuuOFfHU10pMNdRgfDdXFbLdXt_l1lJ7PYHCtbT2PeOJCTlVSDEIle_68gyVsD9hUNY2tp-SjX2RtTyMrMU3LGH8t0J330iFufWKplV9ArhbW3fQUGXZj9HIhCPEJrePbqov/s1600/wreath+008.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 150px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 200px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5463301198589523090" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj5XIQtWxfQuuOFfHU10pMNdRgfDdXFbLdXt_l1lJ7PYHCtbT2PeOJCTlVSDEIle_68gyVsD9hUNY2tp-SjX2RtTyMrMU3LGH8t0J330iFufWKplV9ArhbW3fQUGXZj9HIhCPEJrePbqov/s200/wreath+008.JPG" /> <p align="center"></a>First I painted my wreath brown so that the green wouldn't show through. Then I cut my strips. I started at the fold and did a two inch strip. Once the strip was cut, it was cut in half (TIP, CUT AT THE FOLDED SEAM) to make 2 strips. That cut strip is folded in half and used to make your tie. I believe the netting was about a 60 width, so it works perfect. ( BELOW: The strip on the left is the first cut strip, the strip on the left is the strip cut in half and then folded to the size you need for the wreath).</p><div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnrrcpkEoMk87Ej6HrVr8uzGZ6MD1UzIgoWMiWvV5zLk1ePJxskKTcR_RtsFFJjkBPBUi6gdrPcoLjamRntUV4CyhIbiItJWKTGP8Boz_1Pd7Ti-tUSDkqtmjgtnx-gcJw8lvYcXL2pvZw/s1600/wreath+005.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 150px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 200px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5463301096531360818" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnrrcpkEoMk87Ej6HrVr8uzGZ6MD1UzIgoWMiWvV5zLk1ePJxskKTcR_RtsFFJjkBPBUi6gdrPcoLjamRntUV4CyhIbiItJWKTGP8Boz_1Pd7Ti-tUSDkqtmjgtnx-gcJw8lvYcXL2pvZw/s200/wreath+005.JPG" /></a>Tie the piece of netting on, I started with Pink which was my accent color, and did one piece. I then cut at the fold to make it the same as the other end. It is easier to put it on the wreath before you cut the folded end. I then followed the pink with 2 pieces of the main color of netting. So it goes, 1 strip pink, 2 strips brown, 1 strip pink...etc!<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtdpg4WQCaiR7T2Z4dZsK7ry2cmrhmYJ_AVhCnECWkTKHWU89v7EORsI7OmTtl5_KyrbOTxZZR_T6fT3FeYjeieBLvgTawXt2bmQKkMK_bC7dmt1wleb9W__6YunH2Z8HpJ8AIT44oWNt8/s1600/wreath+004.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5463300960688119314" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtdpg4WQCaiR7T2Z4dZsK7ry2cmrhmYJ_AVhCnECWkTKHWU89v7EORsI7OmTtl5_KyrbOTxZZR_T6fT3FeYjeieBLvgTawXt2bmQKkMK_bC7dmt1wleb9W__6YunH2Z8HpJ8AIT44oWNt8/s200/wreath+004.JPG" /></a> Here is the wreath with the bows started<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEih1fNF6ntG2hM-I19Hvm_lTc8doUp6ZSRdqIFYlr7Rp_DgyK3Z6NZNtm1m0aSG_7iSvlty6E1XOqGkAPwnAzRGTL6B7sqoPX7aJCDw1XZGtQJZlJIR5c_SkvOh4pxnNFjuMblIgcEkFK6p/s1600/wreath+002.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5463300855683776130" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEih1fNF6ntG2hM-I19Hvm_lTc8doUp6ZSRdqIFYlr7Rp_DgyK3Z6NZNtm1m0aSG_7iSvlty6E1XOqGkAPwnAzRGTL6B7sqoPX7aJCDw1XZGtQJZlJIR5c_SkvOh4pxnNFjuMblIgcEkFK6p/s200/wreath+002.JPG" /></a> Closer look.<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNBtbOBmhPh5OL9wRgdo4jXhlF70jxe5iMr9_aONeaZszbwt9sXYGZSQMyAAvIrekErOYOl7stRHYXGvFAHF8Bqi57uAf_bspR4GR99F7kpqXhVR4dI-TvjRGDl6GcR8MCJ56ARqScammT/s1600/wreath+001.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5463300739325364194" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNBtbOBmhPh5OL9wRgdo4jXhlF70jxe5iMr9_aONeaZszbwt9sXYGZSQMyAAvIrekErOYOl7stRHYXGvFAHF8Bqi57uAf_bspR4GR99F7kpqXhVR4dI-TvjRGDl6GcR8MCJ56ARqScammT/s200/wreath+001.JPG" /></a><br />Now when you have completed the wreath, do a little trim. I am a bit embarrased that it is something so simple, but a few people asked how I did the flowers for the lamp shade so I am happy to show you!</div><div align="center">There are a ton of tutorials out there for different types of flowers but I don't remember seeing one on this one..could be wrong though!</div><br /><div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIuxM0BjA9tZIQ6-CPtkOiS9PC-_MhEZC9lYIvGvWtEpfzMmp-DNpr4205yR2XiG-ai6xB4oxVEdZIePIwEND8aSvLjFS1YMrETxGXcR9gxDMATme0xscmiBp9p_Eur9Kx1ioPfHe_SU4Z/s1600/100_2528.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5462050230892221314" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIuxM0BjA9tZIQ6-CPtkOiS9PC-_MhEZC9lYIvGvWtEpfzMmp-DNpr4205yR2XiG-ai6xB4oxVEdZIePIwEND8aSvLjFS1YMrETxGXcR9gxDMATme0xscmiBp9p_Eur9Kx1ioPfHe_SU4Z/s400/100_2528.JPG" /></a> First let me just point something out....THAT IS ME...USING A SEWING MACHINE!! Seriously my mom thought she would never see the day!</div><div align="center"></div><div align="center">Anyway...You start out by cutting strips of fabric. The width on mine were 2 inches and the length 22 inches. You can do them longer, wider, shorter and skinnier. It just depends on the size of flower you want.</div><div align="center"></div><div align="center">Then all you do is a running stitch on your machine. I was mainly looking for glass jars for my kitchen and Cricut machine. WHEN, I came upon this beautiful desk. Isn't she pretty? My son has always wanted an desk and you just can't find good quality without spending a pretty penny. This fine find is HEAVY and the drawers word great. So I took it home for the price of $20.00 and spent another $17.00 to fix it up. I was told by the lovely men at the local Home Depot, that when you sand, you should use the 'medium' grain sand paper. So, I sanded and sanded. I also used wood putty to fill in any cracks and holes. It use to look like this (look below) and now................<br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLvX_4ISh_PO7mFVmbJf7s1Q6U-qVgS5q5dF38xeUAJ3yg30qxueEXKqNMM89LE7l2RlVkxBke1Ja_tl2nu07eCbji9L6JhLUNiwFb1qTu1GaPBxWAw_JCM1xOsRGhT5dG5vkECSY7opxl/s1600/the+desk+001.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5461476419420813810" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLvX_4ISh_PO7mFVmbJf7s1Q6U-qVgS5q5dF38xeUAJ3yg30qxueEXKqNMM89LE7l2RlVkxBke1Ja_tl2nu07eCbji9L6JhLUNiwFb1qTu1GaPBxWAw_JCM1xOsRGhT5dG5vkECSY7opxl/s200/the+desk+001.JPG" /></a> It looks like THIS! (Look below). I wanted to make sure that I still used the same hardware since I like it and really didn't want to spend another $20.00 on it. So I just spray painted the hardware black. I think it turned out great and I have a 10 year old who will write many stories on this desk!!<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUHxkTYnUWz03USqNmj_DGlQmSGJocnRL_RWWyJcHQG0R71IGoW-CJKTFBWXlco9YDL_0Zh1bnwOHqRnzHs5V5lvtA47RGgwaW0SMyCXU_8pDTMJf9LcgtzauH1GB-u4mLGlFEPaz4fYGW/s1600/the+desk+005.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5461476323791343282" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUHxkTYnUWz03USqNmj_DGlQmSGJocnRL_RWWyJcHQG0R71IGoW-CJKTFBWXlco9YDL_0Zh1bnwOHqRnzHs5V5lvtA47RGgwaW0SMyCXU_8pDTMJf9LcgtzauH1GB-u4mLGlFEPaz4fYGW/s200/the+desk+005.JPG" /></a><br />Part 2...this is kinda gross...BUT... a good thing. I bought this 6 inch saucer at the locals Roberts.<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnXoD_K0aFjH6GoWOZhEtOFcseHY7dlT5bRy-Sr1pPl3bugdpG7lC7jf6nh5PyQUsydzfSCCQyiwErJexyQmhODh_HYb2JAR4_uKcxKUK0hUt71nzd1Glq5uJCA3zy8JVAg1pB6ARPD_8R/s1600/the+desk+004.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5461476223608644722" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnXoD_K0aFjH6GoWOZhEtOFcseHY7dlT5bRy-Sr1pPl3bugdpG7lC7jf6nh5PyQUsydzfSCCQyiwErJexyQmhODh_HYb2JAR4_uKcxKUK0hUt71nzd1Glq5uJCA3zy8JVAg1pB6ARPD_8R/s200/the+desk+004.JPG" /></a><br />I spray painted it black to put a ever so disgusting piece of my bathroom in it...you guessed it....THE PLUNGER! With the new toilets being so water savvy, (and young kids in the home) help to attribute to many a clogged toilet! (Hello, 4 squares only please!). Anyways, can't bear to think of this on my pretty tile, so I put it in the saucer. Fits perfectly and the gross germs aren't on my floor.<br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_w95Cn8J3crS7tdGL0az8h5rV1pGyKiW_yfuoc95gOd-4PwUErJe1uN4mPz0lq6EuFbnxyNyktlGHuKxM_eT9MakVZ3XDGJscHqsZp7zGxFutUPzSDbXOQDZ4FV5RqI-PxxU57E66sBRw/s1600/the+desk+006.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 150px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 200px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5461476122449558402" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_w95Cn8J3crS7tdGL0az8h5rV1pGyKiW_yfuoc95gOd-4PwUErJe1uN4mPz0lq6EuFbnxyNyktlGHuKxM_eT9MakVZ3XDGJscHqsZp7zGxFutUPzSDbXOQDZ4FV5RqI-PxxU57E66sBRw/s200/the+desk+006.JPG" /></a> Its a good thing! <div> </div><div> </div><div align="center"><strong><span style="font-size:180%;">KRISTEN</span></strong></div></div></div>Kristenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14217581854751383970noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6906478209795175335.post-89523431005910926732010-04-16T07:41:00.001-07:002010-04-16T07:45:01.395-07:00Woo Hoo!!
